Idea lives long, helps hospital stay strong
Don Postles has more than 2.3 million reasons to be happy that he suggested a unique fundraising activity back in 1988. It was Postles, a television anchor transplant from Buffalo, who pitched the idea that newspapers could be sold to raise money for what was then called Valley Children's Hospital.

Karissa Grote was only 3 when her picture was featured on the cover of the first Kids Day in 1988. The blond child peers through pink-framed glasses at a colorful stuffed animal. The toy has special meaning to the Reedley native because it was given to her by Joshua Bryant, a leukemia patient who died at the age of 6.
